What is a good Spotify Popularity score?
Analyzing Musicstax data to compare Spotify Popularity scores
While Musicstax Metrics may be one of the easiest ways to view your Spotify Popularity Score, it isn't clear what this score means for an individual track.
There are a few ways to look at this, from what this score means algorithmically to a comparison to other songs' popularity scores. Looking at the tens of millions of songs we're tracking, we noticed some interesting things. Perhaps your Spotify Popularity score is a lot better than you think.
Popularity scores compared across Spotify.
Looking at our Musicstax Metrics data, we see that many tracks have a popularity score of 0%. Almost 20% of the tracks in our Metrics database have a popularity score of 0%, and this is likely to be much higher as we haven't captured every single song out there, but we have a decent amount and we're more likely to not know about songs which aren't being streamed.
Having a popularity score of 10% means your track is actually in the top 50% of songs on Spotify based on popularity scores. A 30% score puts you in the top 11.5% of songs.
The table below illustrates how popularity scores relate to each other. You can see many tracks in the lower percentages, but once you get above 10%, you will be in the top percentage of tracks.
